Nihao Language Education was never something I just came up with sitting behind an office desk. It was built lesson by lesson, after I personally taught over 10,000 hours of live classes, and after seeing so many students get stuck with rigid methods and outdated textbooks.

My journey in language education began with a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Education, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). During my postgraduate studies, I completed an intensive teaching practicum at the English Schools Foundation (ESF) Kowloon Junior School, teaching Year 5 Mandarin Chinese to Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students. Upon graduation, I joined the distinguished Chinese teaching faculty at PLK Camões Tan Siu Lin Primary School—one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious English-medium, culturally diverse DSS schools.

The experience of teaching these students within international and DSS school taught me: when lessons are lively, practical, and grounded in clear structural logic, these NCS students pick up Mandarin with astonishing speed. They don’t fight the language; they embrace it.

Driven by a deeper curiosity about how learners of all stages master communication, I stepped outside conventional schooling to coach expatriate adults. That was when the stark reality of adult Mandarin training became impossible to ignore.

Hong Kong is one of the world’s most dynamic financial capitals. Every day, I met managing directors, investment bankers, and legal counsels from Fortune 500 companies who were genuinely struggling with generic, ten-year-old textbooks that had zero relevance to the modern boardroom. They didn’t need textbook dialogue about buying fruit in a local market; they needed the linguistic precision to lead negotiations, build rapport with mainland partners, and navigate cross-border deals with absolute confidence.

Determined to transform this experience, I developed an innovative, scenario-driven curriculum from scratch. I engineered a modular learning system—what later became our signature Building-Block Method—to decode Chinese sentence structures and characters logically, eliminating the cognitive drag of rote memorization.

The results were immediate. Word of mouth spread rapidly throughout the Central business community. Soon, my teaching schedule was completely packed from 7:30 in the morning until 9:30 at night, seven days a week. When the waitlist grew too long and there were physically no hours left in my day, I knew it was time to scale this teaching methodology.

On September 23, 2014, I officially founded Nihao Language Education in Central, Hong Kong, assembling a faculty of Master’s-certified educators who shared an uncompromising dedication to pedagogical excellence. Later, to ensure our growing institute was guided by the highest global standards of educational governance, I pursued advanced executive studies at Harvard Business School(HBS), completing the Certificate in School Management and Leadership.

Over the past 12 years, that singular focus on academic rigor has expanded Nihao into Hong Kong’s premier language institute, with executive campuses in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. We have had the privilege of training over 4,000 expatriates and partnering with more than 300 multinational corporations, maintaining an industry-leading 99%+ renewal rate.
